How to Create Lasting Change

Every year, many people make resolutions to achieve certain goals. It might be during the beginning of a new year or on their birthday each year. At the time of writing the resolutions, most people feel very confident about reaching those goals. However, only about 8% of people actually achieve their new years resolutions goals according to That means a whopping 92% of people fail to achieve their goals.

Why is change so hard?

I don’t think people fail for lack of motivation, or will power. Most people who take the time to write down a set of goals do have motivation. Moreover their will power is usually demonstrated by initial actions taken to create the changes necessary to achieve those goals. Most people do have great motivation and strong will power. However, what most people lack is simplicity. Sometimes the steps to reach our goals are too complicated. If we simplify and break down the process we will increase our chances of successfully reaching the desired end result. To create any lasting change, you must:

1. Breakdown the process into 3 or 5 simple steps. I highly recommend just using 3 steps, because in this case less is better.

2. These steps must reflect things that you are either already doing, have done successfully in the past or things you know you can do. You must feel confident that you can do each one of these steps comfortably

3. Find a way to put those steps in automation and forget about it. Before you know it, you will have reached your goals. To automate your new change, you must repeat it over and over and until it is conditioned or become first nature.

If you apply these 3 simple rules in your strategy, you will find that creating lasting change is actually very simple.
